Meet the innkeepers of Tucker Hill Inn: Kevin and Patti Begin.

Kevin and Patti Begin, along with their two children Abby and Tyce, and Bernese Mountain Dog Rosi, purchased the Tucker Hill Inn from long-time owners Alison and Phill Truckle in November 2015. Since then, Kevin and Patti have been feverishly updating and modernizing the quintessential Vermont inn, making it into both a family-friendly and romantic destination spot in the Mad River Valley.

Get to know the Begin family and why they traded corporate America for the historic Tucker Hill Inn in Waitsfield, Vermont.

Meet Kevin Begin

Kevin started his career by receiving a degree in culinary arts from Cobleskill College in New York, after which he became a chef at Regan’s Restaurant in upstate New York and then a partner at The Summit Room in Duanesburg, New York.

Kevin traded the restaurant business for a career at Dean Foods as a salesmen. Over the next 25 years, he worked through the sales leadership ranks and eventually became the Divisional General Manager of the northeast region for Dean Food. Along the way, he earned a B.S in business administration and an M.B.A. He and his wife Patti decided to leave corporate America and embrace the Vermont lifestyle by buying the Tucker Hill Inn, close to the Green Mountain Valley School where Abby and Tyce are both ski racers.

At Tucker Hill Inn, you can find Kevin making nourishing breakfasts and delicious pub-fare on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as pouring craft beer, renovating rooms throughout the inn, designing new amenities, like Tucker Hill’s new ski tuning and bike tuning facility, and overseeing marketing of the Vermont inn.

Meet Patti Begin

After high school, Patti attended the Dudley Hall Institute and then started in a role with College of the Holy Cross‘ athletic department. She also spent several years on the Garelick Farms accounting team. After having children, she accepted the full-time job of Mom and worked at her trade for many years before re-entering the business world. Before taking ownership of the Tucker Hill Inn, Patti worked for the United Way in Worcester, Massachusetts as part of the finance team.

At Tucker Hill Inn, Patti oversees reservations, accounting and housekeeping, and is known to make a mean chocolate chip cookie for Tucker Hill Inn’s guests.
