    The town of Waitsfield was chartered in 1782 and features an historic Main Street blending the unique Vermont architecture and wonderful artisan shops with its own white steepled church and covered bridge the "Great Eddy Bridge" built in 1833, just one of several Vermont Covered Bridges in the area.

Vermont Scenic Drives - Drive 1: Falls and Foliage

From Tucker Hill, turn right onto Route 17 and follow to VT-100.  Turn right at Intersection and head SOUTH on VT-100. Approx. 2 miles after the turn off to Warren Village, watch for a small parking inlet on the right accompanied by a Notice Board for visitors.  This is the site of WARREN FALLS.  Park and stroll down to the falls.  They are truly spectacular.  Continue on VT-100 SOUTH for approx 5 miles passing through through Granville Gulf

Moss Glen Falls - Vermont Covered Bridges and Vermont Scenic Drives - Drive 1

you will arrive at Moss Glen Falls on your right. This 50 foot waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vermont. There is road side parking here just before you get to the falls so watch for it. There is a small boardwalk where you can enjoy the view. Continue going SOUTH on VT-100 6.8 miles then turn RIGHT onto SCENIC BYWAY VT-125. Travel 3 miles and turn RIGHT onto TEXAS FALLS ROAD. Here you will find Texas Falls located within the Green Mountain National Forest. If you continue up the road you will find picnic tables. It’s a great spot to stop and enjoy a picnic lunch. There are great walks around the falls in the warmer months, but take care when the falls are frozen.  Head back out to VT-125 and turn RIGHT. Travel 13 miles and turn RIGHT onto US-7N/VT-125N/COURT STREET. Continue on US-7N/VT-125 into the town of Middlebury, home to Middlebury College and another beautiful, quintessential Vermont village. It has a spectacular waterfall right in the center of town. Enjoy the coffee shops, restaurants and stores. Continue on US-7N/VT-125. You will want to turn LEFT onto NORTH PLEASANT STREET/ US-7N/VT-125. Follow US-7 for 2.9 miles then turn RIGHT onto RIVER ROAD. At 5.1 miles RIVER ROAD becomes VT-116. Travel 2 miles and turn RIGHT onto STONY HILL RD/VT-116/VT-17. Continue to follow VT-17 for 4.3 miles and take SLIGHT RIGHT onto DRAKE WOODS RD/VT-17.  This will take you up and over the Appalachian Gap, past Mad River Glen and back to Tucker Hill.

Warren Falls, Vermont Scenic Drives and Vermont Covered Bridges - Drive 1

Vermont Scenic Drives - Drive 2: Vermont Covered Bridges

From Tucker Hill, turn right onto Route 17 and following to junction of Route 100.  Bear right onto Route 100 South and head to town of Warren.  Turn left into Warren Village and bear right onto MAIN STEET.  Head SOUTH on MAIN STREET 0.2 miles then turn RIGHT onto COVERED BRIDGE ROAD and cross over the Lincoln Gap Bridge.  Continue on, and take a RIGHT onto VT-100.  At 6.4 miles turn RIGHT onto BRIDGE STREET and cross the Great Eddy Bridge.  For a beautiful photo opportunity cross the bridge, stop on the other side, turn around and get a great photo of the Bridge, Church Street, and the white steeple of the Waitsfield Church in the background.
Continue along BRIDGE STREET for 0.3 miles then turn SLIGHT LEFT onto JOSLIN HILL ROAD.  At 1.2 miles turn LEFT onto NORTH ROAD, at 0.8 miles you will arrive at Pine Brook Covered Bridge.  Continue on NORTH ROAD. At 2.4 miles NORTH ROAD becomes PONY FARM ROAD.  Continue driving for 1 mile then turn RIGHT onto VT-100B. At .4 miles turn RIGHT onto MORETOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD.  At 6.4 miles MORETOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD becomes COX BROOK ROAD.  Drive 1.8 miles to Upper Cox Brook Covered Bridge.  Continue along COX BROOK ROAD and you arrive at Newell Bridge, also known as Lower Cox Covered Bridge.  The view through the Newell Bridge to Northfield Falls Bridge is the only spot in Vermont where you can view one covered bridge from another.   Drive through the Northfield Falls Bridge to VT-12.  Turn RIGHT onto VT-12. At 0.3 miles you will see the Slaughterhouse Covered Bridge.  Continue SOUTH on VT-12 through the town of Northfield, home of Norwich University. At 2.3 miles turn RIGHT onto VT-12A.  At 1.5 miles turn RIGHT onto STONY BROOK RD where you will see the Tiny Moseley Bridge.  Retrace your steps back to VT-12A and turn RIGHT and travel 4.4 miles then turn RIGHT onto WARREN MOUNTAIN ROAD. At 5.7 miles turn LEFT onto BROOK ROAD then continue 2.3 miles and you are back to Warren Village where you started.  Take Route 100 North back to Tucker Hill Inn.
