In the Mad River Valley

The Mad River Valley captures the quaint unspoiled Vermont towns of Waitsfield, Warren and Fayston which all offer an array of activities for the visitor to enjoy.  In addition the resort areas of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen also fall under the umbrella of the Mad River Valley offering spectacular mountain scenery right on the Valley’s doorstep.

The Mad River Farmers Market

Occurs every Saturday morning from mid May to late October in the center of Waitsfield and brings together local farmers and talented local artisans, happy to share their stories and their original produce and goods.  The colorful tents, live music and spacious marketplace in the center of town make this a "must" to visit.

Antiquing, Artisan Stores and Retail Therapy

Less than five minutes from Tucker Hill, you will find an array of shops which will delight both the casual and serious shopper with their unique apparel and gift items. Be sure to check out: Mad River Glass and Luminosity Studios with its beautiful selection of hand blown glass and actually watch the artisans at work, Not Just Blackboards where Karla will help you design the perfect board for your home and customize it too and The Green Mountain Workshop with its wonderful selection of hand-crafted furniture.  Other favorites include The Artisan Gallery, The Collection and The Store where you will find one of a kind gifts and Vermont goods.

Restaurants

The Mad River Valley is home to a wide range of food establishments from award winning Wine Spectator restaurants to small cafes and casual dining restaurants where the emphasis is on locally grown produce (Vermont Fresh Network) and good home-baked fare. Within 5 minutes of Tucker Hill, you will find no fewer than 10 such restaurants and with the New England Culinary Institute based in Montpelier, you can rest assured that there is no shortage of talented chefs in the area.

Pampering can certainly be a part of your Vermont vacation!  The Alta Day Spa in Warren is a relaxing and wonderful full service spa, just a short drive away and Mad River Massage can relax even the most stressed or exhausted body!

Natural Scenic Drives, Walks & Covered Bridges

Tucker Hill Inn is just five minutes drive from two beautiful covered bridges, both crossing the Mad River and there are no fewer than 13 covered bridges within a one hour drive of the Inn.  Scenic drives, cycle rides and walks dominate the Green Mountain area and the Appalachian Gap, Roxbury Gap and Lincoln Gap are all just a few minutes away.  Fall foliage does not get any better than drives over these scenic highways.  The Mad River Path Association maintains hiking trails throughout the area including the Millbrook Trail which runs right behind the Inn itself.
